This is probably the first real article I wrote for the wiki, many years ago. The information all comes from one source, the Unearthed Arcana 1st edition, which Gary Gygax wrote, based on the other sources listed below in the References. It is not even core D&D—it is just a classification system for pole arms—and has no direct ties to the Forgotten Realms. I would like to keep it as-is and just mark it {{Unrelated}}, if possible. This article is more a tribute to Gary Gygax than anything else.

The articles about the specific weapons should probably be rewritten with an in-universe perspective, and the real-world illustrations moved to a Gallery in the Appendix, or removed entirely. I have no idea if there is any FR-specific information on pole arms, but I suspect there is little to none. —Moviesign (talk) 13:07, June 17, 2018 (UTC)

I think all of our regular weapon articles, such as longsword, could use rewrites. Ruf (talk) 14:42, June 17, 2018 (UTC)
If we mean by Realms-related that something exists in the Realms, this is very much the case for pole arms! On a short search I also found maybe half of the specializations mentioned in this article. I have added the most obvious example, about the history of the polearm in the Netheril. So I think no unrelated tag is necessary, just normal clean-up about the issues already mentioned would be nice. Daranios (talk) 19:13, June 17, 2018 (UTC)
Pole arms are certainly used in the Realms, but this article is about a categorization system and nomenclature based on the real world that Mr. Gygax presented for role-players to use. I think the info about Netheril should go in the History section (or maybe Society and Culture) of the Netheril article, with just a link to it here. This article is admittedly an odd duck, and I have no idea what should be done with it. —Moviesign (talk) 14:40, June 18, 2018 (UTC)
As usual, when in doubt I like to keep instead of remove. "Sword" may not be the greatest example, but the main section here did not initally strike me as a classification system but like a much expanded version of the Sword#Varieties section. Having the different versions of pole arms existing in the Realms explained in indivdual articles is good, but the overview and their groupings here also seem nice to have to me. So my suggestion (though I don't want to be the one to put it into practice :-) would be a bit of clean-up, more in-universe perspective, just remove the few allusions to Earth history (and maybe the term classifcation system), and addition of more Realms info and occurences.
