Some of the abilities mentioned in the "crunchy" section are from different editions of the game and are no longer part of the creature description in the 5e Monster Manual, and so it becomes difficult to know how to reference them. "Stories say that quasits used to be able to discern truth from lies but that ability seems to have been lost over time . . ." I don't know if that's acceptable content. - Something similar to that is actually just fine. The only problem is the assumption that the abilities have been lost; we do not assume that they have been. It is possible that the writer of the 5e material simply didn't know about them or neglected to mention them.
