Dungeons and Dragons has some really weird ideas when it comes to sword classifications.

Shortsword - In reality there is no such weapon called this, but length wise is similar to the gladius and other bronze age swords. Longsword - The D&D weapon being a one handed cutting sword makes this weapon definitely not a longsword in real life, the more accurate counterpart would be the medieval arming sword or the renaissance broadsword. Bastard sword - A two handed sword that's light enough to be reasonably wieldy in one hand as well? Now THIS is the real counterpart to the longsword Greatsword - Counterpart to the Zweihander and other battlefield swords. They actually got this one correct. Well done guys! 15:09, June 8, 2015 (UTC)
