Ten-Towns current status[]

I have observed that most of the articles regarding Ten-Towns are written in past tense. I must admit I am very detached from recent history of Faerûn, so I would like to know if something disastrous happened to it recently (i.e. destruction, whether total or partial).--85.53.176.120 00:28, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

Not at all (that I know of). The policy here is to write all articles in past tense, essentially from the perspective of a billion years in the future. It's described at Forgotten Realms Wiki:Remove wiki from timeline. -- BadCatMan (talk) 01:01, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

D&D Live 2020[]

I know the D&D Live 2020 event where Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden was announced featured a "Reality RP" event where various semi-celebrities played the roles of "champions" from the Ten Towns. I'm not sure how canon anything from the event was (though Duvessa Shane and Edgra Durmoot did represent their respective towns), but I figured it was at least worth mentioning here. (I suspect we'll get more info about the Ten Towns and their council representatives in the adventure...) --V2Blast (talk) 13:22, August 12, 2020 (UTC)

We generally don't cover streamed games for a variety of reasons. I am sure anything worth mentioning will be included in Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden. --Ir'revrykal (talk) 13:43, August 12, 2020 (UTC)
@Ir'revrykal: Technically it's not even a streamed game of D&D - more of a reality TV-esque event - but that makes sense. --V2Blast (talk) 20:03, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

hyphen[]

should be "Ten-Towns" not "the Ten Towns" throughout --RolphBremen

As per all the cite sources, Ten Towns is a more common term. Ten-Towns is an alternative spelling. -Artyom.pavlov (talk) 17:27, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
All 5th edition sources use "Ten-Towns" (Rime of the Frostmaiden, Storm King's Thunder, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide). Legacy of the Crystal Shard (4th/5th) and "King of the Wolves" (4th, Dungeon 220) also use "Ten-Towns." No 3rd edition sources of note. 2nd edition or earlier is the only place there is any ambiguity. The novels use "Ten-Towns," which is where most of the information from this era comes from. RolphBremen (talk) 18:00, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
The wiki is edition-agnostic. -Artyom.pavlov (talk) 18:02, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm not suggesting otherwise, I'm listing source that show the dominant usage is "Ten-Towns" RolphBremen (talk) 18:12, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
The wiki is edition-agnostic. Furthermore, the ten towns term is used in Timeless, Icewind Dale games,Ed Greenwood's tweets and posts, Silver Marches, Champions of Valor, Dungeon magazine 220, 219, A handful of draogn magazines, Twilight Enclave, Dead in Thay, among many others of the later editions. No name changes are necessary. -Artyom.pavlov (talk) 18:02, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
