NPC class[]
These are explicitly referred to as type 3 yuan-ti malisons (in the 5e parlance) in Volo's Guide to Monsters. They are also not "priests of a sort", they are stated to literally be priestesses of Dendar. Based on the entry in Volo's Guide, I strongly believe this is an NPC class for yuan-ti, not a separate creature. Ir'revrykal (talk) 08:25, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

I think it's more along the line of "Such and such types of yuan-ti are only accepted for this role". So only bottom-side half snakes are allowed to become nightmare speakers. The wording is also kinda vague the way it describes them at the end. "This malison is the type that looks like such and such" and it uses that format for every "class" description, which implies to me that it's referring to the specific statblock.Vegepygmy (talk) 19:39, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
