Telepathy was a divine spell of the thought sphere that allowed a cleric to create a telepathic link with another creature, allowing for two-way mental communication.[1]

Effects[]

Regardless of whether the two shared a language, the spellcaster and affected creature could mentally communicate with each other at approximately four times the speed that verbal communication took. Both participants could only "hear" thoughts that were purposely being sent. The spell did not give access to other thoughts, nor emotions or memories.[1]

Telepathy had a casting range of 30 yards (27 meters). In order for the spell to take effect, a target had to be a creature with at least a "semi-" level of intelligence. Additionally, unwilling targets could be affected by this spell, though they had a chance to resist the casting.[1]

With multiple casting, more than one telepathic channels could be active at once, though they would not function as a network. This meant that targeted creatures could only telepathically communicate the caster, not with each other.[1] These telepathic links could not persist past the boundary of a crystal sphere,[2] but worked without issue underwater.[3]

Components[]

Casting this spell required only verbal and somatic components.[1]
