Temporal stasis, which was originally called Chronomancer's stasis,[1] was an extremely powerful transmutation spell that could put someone in suspended animation indefinitely.[2] The spell had a reversed form named temporal reinstatement.[3]

EffectsEdit

Whoever was touched by a mage casting this spell was placed into a state where time ceased flowing for him or her. The creature would not age, and no body functions would operate, nor would there be any consciousness. In addition, the target was protected from any force or effect, including those that might cause harm. This state of stasis would last permanently unless undone by other magic,[2] like the reversed form temporal reinstatement.[3]

ComponentsEdit

Temporal stasis required verbal and somatic components and an expensive powder (worth at least 5,000 gp) composed of the dust of several rare gems, including diamond, emerald, ruby, and sapphire, which were consumed in the casting process.[2] Temporal reinstatement needed one word only, and no other components.[3]

HistoryEdit

The spell was invented by Netherese arcanist Jeriah Chronos in −2119 DR.[8]
