"Thal" was the assumed identity of a doppelganger in Shadowdale during the late 15th century DR.[1]
Description[]
In his usual guise, Thal was barefoot and had bright eyes.[1]
Activities[]
Thal spent some time as a hand at the Old Skull Inn, and sometimes led travelers into ambushes under the pretense of taking them to see Elminster Aumar.[1]

Thal worked with a number of other doppelgangers.[1]
History[]
When in early spring of the Year of the Ageless One, 1479 DR, the Bloodshields came to Shadowdale, Thal was asked to lead them to Elminster, whom they sought. Thal led them to a cave where another doppelganger pretended to be Elminster, and a number of other doppelgangers had an ambush prepared; the Bloodshields did not survive.[1]
A later attempt to ambush a number of War Wizards with the same trick failed, however, and Thal was held for questioning by War Wizard Lemmeth.[2]
