The Boomgarden was a cul-de-sac,[1] paved in hard-packed earth and gravel,[2] in the Southern Ward of Waterdeep.[3]

Geography[]

This cul-de-sac trailed northward off of Fillet Lane. Along the way it was intersected by Slop Street.[3]

Notable Locations[]

  • Amalae's, a beauty shop that stood at the head of the cul-de-sac.[1]
  • Boom's Garden, a clothing store.[1]
  • Mhaalauvur's, a jug store at the northwestern corner of the street's intersection with Fillet Lane.[1]
  • Rooming houses dominated much of this street.[1]
  • Sorting houses dominated the southeastern block of this street, wherein goods brought from warehouses were assembled into specific in-city customer orders and crated for delivery.[1]

Background[]

According to trusted designer Eric L. Boyd, designer Ed Greenwood (creator of the Forgotten Realms) noted that when the map for the sourcebook City System was being made his master map was not consulted. As a result, many named streets and alleys were thought to have no name, which the team took as an opportunity to name some after staff at TSR, Inc. In this case, the street was named for the City System's editor Karen S. Boomgarden. This is most likely the explanation for why The Boomgarden is unique to that sourcebook's map.[4]
