The First Link is a one-round tournament adventure module set in the Living City organized play program and the first half of the Chain That Binds series of modules. It was published in 2000, for both 2nd and 3rd edition, and is intended for a group of 4 to 7 adventurers of all levels.

Not everything that happens in the City of Ravens is plainly visible. Heinous crimes can always be found if one looks hard enough. But the motivations for these acts may be disturbing to some, and the solutions to the problems are never as easy as we would like.

Notes[]

Background[]

  • This module notably gives a rare insight into the Living City community, stating that, "There seems to be a penchant in this campaign for PCs to play with bad elements, in hopes of finding power, or just because the players seem to want to say they can outsmart the LC staff."[1][2]
  • For the 2nd edition version of the adventure, the DM Aids included three pages that were partial photocopies of the Gargauth section from Powers and Pantheons (Pages 22-23 & 25-26), as well as one page that was a photocopy of the monk class in Faiths & Avatars (Page 185).[3] For the 3rd edition version, the DM Aids included only a single page of text on Gargauth that is copied from the overview of the god provided in Pages 22-23 of Powers and Pantheons.[4]
