The Thorass languages composed a large linguistic grouping of languages spoken throughout Faerûn,[1] including Thorass, Chondathan, and Common.[2]

The Thorass language group was broken down by scholars into five subgroups:[1]

Thorass languages shared the same script, with only a few exceptions.
History[]
By the late 15th century DR, the Thorass group was the most active language group in Faerûn.[3]

Thorass languages are based on the real-life Romance languages of Latin, Italian, and French, which are referred to as Italic in the source material.[1]
