Thundaerl's universal taster was a bespoke spell that detected and announced the presence of poison in food.[1][2]
Effects[]
Any food within 30 feet (9.1 meters) of the caster, when he looked at it, would register in his sight with luminous purple flames where substances harmful to them were present in the meal. At will, the caster could make hissing black illusory serpents rise from any such poisoned foodstuffs. The spell's effect could even penetrate sauces, solid foods, and food container lids.[1][2]
Components[]
Besides verbal and somatic components, the spell called for a spark of flame and a piece of snakeskin.[1][2]

The spell was Thundaerl's latest as of approximately 1367 DR.[1][2]
