Tomato was a delicate red fruit endemic to the continent of Maztica.[1]

Description[]

Tomatoes could be consumed fresh picked, but they could not survive the trip to Faerûn in that state. Imported tomatoes had to be dried and preserved in oil, which intensified their sweet flavor. Tomatoes were frequently used in soups, salads, and candies.[1]

Availability[]

Beyond their native land of Maztica, places in the Realms where tomatoes were known to be cultivated included:

Beyond Toril[]

  • In Krynnspace, the temperate moon of Hiddukel was home to farmers that grew a variety of crops in incredible sizes, including tomatoes as big as a man's head. They variously sold or traded these to visiting spelljamming merchants.[7]
