Unholy ravagers were evil dragons who devoted themselves wholly to the cause of Tiamat, queen of evil dragons, becoming clerics centered on destruction. Of the various forces of evil in the world, dragons of this moniker were among the most fearsome.[1]

Culture[]

All unholy ravagers aspired towards attaining a mere sliver of Tiamat's ferocious power. However, as they devoted themselves to a life of destruction, they lacked any ambition towards embodying the Dragon Queen's finesse and cunning. Whenever they set their sights on destroying, they would leave nothing untouched in their wake.[1]

These typically worked alone, but on occasion would drive marauding hordes ahead of them. This was done either for the purpose of making their opposition overfident or to soften them up. Typical races for such hordes included the likes of hobgoblins, kobolds, and lizardfolk.[1]

While just about any dragons could walk the past of an unholy ravagers, it was most commonly taken up by blue and green dragons. Additionally, a number of red dragons who strayed towards neutral evil could be found taking on the role of an unholy ravager.[1]

Abilities[]

Once a dragon became committed to the path of the unholy ravager, their body lost all of its innate arcane magic and was replaced with an equal equivalent of divine power, making them quite effective clerics.[1] They could cast a number of clerical spells,[2] primarily those of the destruction domain.[1]

One of the first unique abilities they would go on to possess was an innate ability to cast breath weapon substitution at will, though doing so would cause their dragon breath longer than usual to recuperate. Next their innate frightful presence began altering into an aura of despair,[2] causing creatures within the unholy ravager's presence to struggle in their efforts as they became awash in terror.[3]

One of the more significant abilities unholy ravagers developed later in life was that of blasting raw profane energy from their mouth. This energy had the appearance and feel of whatever energy that dragon's natural breath weapon was, but was more powerful.[3] Rather than being fueled by the dragon's draconis fundamentum,[4] it drew from divine power, and thus was not subject to protection from energy or similar magic. However, the dragon could not utilize their natural breath weapon for a period after using this power.[3]

This profane blast was of such power that it could penetrate the likes of prismatic walls, prismatic spheres, and walls of force. The one thing that this blast normally couldn't penetrate was the shields of a sacred warder of Bahamut.[3]
