A urit was a specialty priest of Ulutiu who served as the leader of their village.[1]

Urits could be male or female. In addition to their role as their village's religious leader, the urit was the absolute ruler of their village whose word was law. The urit was served by a trio of religious lieutenants called yaaurits.[1]
