Vanduhar Gerenstalt Eisner was a musician, a member of the Heart of Bane and part of the Bard's Guild of Ravens Bluff in the late 14th century DR.[1]
History[]
By Uktar of the Year of the Unstrung Harp, 1371 DR,[note 1] Vanduhar found his calling as a member of a band that performed in Ravens Bluff. The musician's instrument of choice was the Illmataran organ of pain. Along with the organ, Vanduhar found like-minded performers among Firmal who played illithid bagpipes, Havoc Sen Thornclaw with the ax of deafening and destruction used as an instrument, and Everett Taber and his drums of panic, all gathered under the leadership of the Kossuthan priest and the band's lead wailer named Nassar. As a group, they picked a name that would prove highly problematic. The Heart of Bane band was named after the infamous relic of the same name. In Uktar, the Bard's Guild plastered the city with posters that advertised that the Heart of Bane would be making an appearance at a performance aimed at helping the city's morale.[1]
Unsurprisingly, the ill-conceived advertisement attracted the attention of a band of tanar'ri as the planar beings were attracted to the relic's dark magic, plaguing the city at the time. The ensuing slaughter ended the lives of a dozen innocents, and the Bard's Guild was lit aflame, with the guild being severely damaged. The demonic attack was ended by a Golden Rooster Patrol led by Sir Kirth Sonath-Pann. In the fallout of the performance, Vanduhar Gerenstalt Eisner and the whole Heart of Bane band went into hiding, leaving only a spokesperson to proclaim their innocence. The proceedings from the show were never paid to Vanduhar's group as the Bard's Guild claimed that the box office was ransacked by a nabassu.[1]

Notes[]
- ↑ The events of the Living City Ravens Bluff campaign took place on a timeline that advanced together with the real world's time. Even though all Living City adventures and issues of Ravens Bluff Trumpeter were dated with real-world dates, there were events that received a DR year. The Living City timeline can be derived from Myrkyssa Jelan's historic events of the late 14th century DR. Myrkyssa Jelan attacked Ravens Bluff in 1370 DR, according to The City of Ravens Bluff and Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting 3rd edition; these events are chronicled in an in-and-out of universe issues of Ravens Bluff Trumpeter. This places the real world year 1997 as 1370 DR, and in 1998 (1371 DR), Myrkyssa was at last arrested and tried and said to have been executed, only to reappear in 1372 DR in The City of Ravens novel. As the real world's months and the Calendar of Harptos are virtually identical, we can also date all events of the Living City Ravens Bluff as close as an in-universe month.
