Vitriolic sphere was an evocation spell that created an explosion of acid.[1][5]
Effects[]
The spell created a shimmering emerald-green sphere of acid about 1 foot (0.3 meters) in diameter that then flew directly to a point within a range of 150 feet (46 meters) of the caster. Upon arriving at its target, the sphere exploded and covered everyone within 20 feet (6.1 meters) in potent acid, which remained active for several seconds following the explosion.[1]
Older versions of this spell, belonging to the conjuration school, had a longer range, reaching up to 150 yards (140 meters) and producing acid that lasted for up to 5 minutes.[5]
Components[]
The spell required verbal, somatic, and material components. The material required was either a drop of bile from a giant slug[1][5] or a small glass vile filled with aqua regia.[3]
