Warthogs were a species of pig-like omnivores related to boars.[3]
Description[]
Warthogs had large tusks that they used to defend themselves. They measured 2.5 feet (0.76 meters) tall at the shoulder.[3]
Personality[]
Warthogs were aggressive creatures that often fought to the death,[4] though only were aggressive when threatened or cornered or if their territory was threatened.[3]
Ecology[]
Habitats[]
Warthogs were near exclusively found in warm climates.[3]
On the continent of Faerûn, warthogs could be found in the Midwood and Starwood reaches of the Cormanthor forest,[5] in the Calim Desert,[6] in the Plain of Standing Stones,[7] and in the Wyllowwood of Undermountain.[1]
Beyond Faerûn they could be found on the continent of Zakhara, inhabiting badlands, forests, and hills.[8] There they were commonly hunted by jungle giants.[8][9]
Beyond the Prime Material, in the plane of Qui, a field in sector five of the plane was populated with a herd of warthogs during the Season of the Unicorn.[10]

Notes[]
- ↑ The 2nd edition alignment given in the original source is "Nil", which should be read as Neutral according to this Sage Advice answer by Skip Williams in Dragon Magazine Issue #155: "The nil alignment rating is a holdover from an early draft of the Monstrous Compendium material. Originally, a rating of nil indicated that a creature was not intelligent enough to have an alignment at all. However, the nil rating was dropped during rewriting and should have been replaced with the neutral alignment."
