Whisperchain was a unique suit of light chain armor found in Lost Souls' Swamp in the mid-1480s DR.[1][note 1]
Description[]
The silvery armor covered most of the body and was made of mithral. While mithral would normally be light, Whisperchain was actually completely weightless.[1]
Powers[]
The suit of armor was weightless and partially ethereal, and imparted it on the wearer. It let them strike effectively at incorporeal targets that otherwise slid out of material reality. It also made the wearer blurry and harder to hit in turn, and boosted their awareness and reflexes in both dodging and striking.[1]
History[]
The armor ended up in Lost Souls' Swamp along with Evrim Whitehair. When he was killed by his friends, the shadowy lord of the swamp trapped Evrim as a spectral undead, and the armor (and the rest of his treasures) remained in the same lake Evrim's body was dumped in. It may have been recovered a few years later by adventurers pursuing a piece of the Abyssal Planus Mechanus Nether Scroll held by the medusa Sshaastess, who had laired nearby.[1]

Notes[]
- ↑ Menace of the Underdark (including Web of Chaos) is dated to the period of 1484–1485 DR, as it references the ongoing Darkening. Shadowfell Conspiracy (including Disciples of Shadow, Shadow Under Thunderholme, The Druid's Deep, and The High Road of Shadows) are dated to the same period, as they are stated to take place at roughly the same time as Menace of the Underdark.
